Triclosan:
antibacterial
Triclosan has been used for over 30 years in
clinical disinfection soaps, shampoos, deodorants
and household soaps and more recently in toothpaste,
mouthwash and food packaging. Triclosan has
also shown to be effective against heavy cross-infections
in neonatology and chemotherapy departments
in our hospitals.
It has been declared as non-toxic,
even in cases of high doses of oral ingestion.
Triclosan has been shown to be non-mutagenic,
non-carcinogenic and non-teratogenic. It is
therefore very safe as well as effective for
use in our hospitals. It remains stable up to
200°C.
